LIGHT
A NORWAY ARCTIC JOURNEY DECEMBER 2027
“I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
-
Day 1 — Welcome & Dusk
Arrive in Tromsø, into the polar night, and settle in. Tonight is our welcome dinner — we unpack ruach, frame the journey, and your chavurah begins to know one another. We name the darkness honestly: the Arctic’s, and our own.
Day 2 — Into the Dark
Teaching on darkness as the deep beginning — the void over which God first spoke, “Let there be light.” An Arctic day activity; and as night falls, the first watch for the aurora — learning, with our guides, to wait.
Day 3 — The Light Appears
The heart of the journey: a Northern Lights excursion. Teaching on Christ as the light of the world — illumination that cannot be manufactured, only received.
Day 4 — Walk in It
What it means to walk in the light — the response of a life that has seen. Time among local storytellers and the rhythms of Arctic life; a gentler, restorative day.
Day 5 — Light Without End
The light that has no end — the hope all of this points toward. A final aurora chance if the sky offers it, then a farewell feast, reflection, and blessing.
Day 6 — Go
A quiet farewell morning; carry the light home. Depart.
A note on rhythm. We hold this itinerary with open hands. We follow the weather, the light, and the leading of the Spirit — so the order and shape of days may shift along the way. When it does, it isn’t a disruption; it’s part of how these journeys breathe. We’ll always protect the heart of the experience and the moments that matter most.

Is the aurora guaranteed?
No — and that’s part of the point. The Northern Lights can’t be manufactured, only awaited, so we build in multiple nights and travel with guides who chase the clearest skies. Whether or not it appears on a given night, the waiting itself becomes the teaching.
How physically demanding is it?
Moderate. Expect cold‑weather excursions, some late nights waiting for the aurora, and walking on snow and ice — nothing technical, but dress seriously warm. Thermal gear is often provided on excursions.
What’s the weather like in December?
Polar night — the sun stays below the horizon, and temperatures sit well below freezing. We’ll send detailed layering guidance so you arrive prepared and comfortable.
Do I need a passport?
Yes — this is an international journey. We’ll share arrival and departure windows once dates are confirmed so you can book flights with confidence.
Is this only for Christians?
No. Via Ruach welcomes anyone with an earnest desire to know God more. We teach from the Bible through a Christ‑centered lens; a love for Scripture is all you need to bring.
This six‑day journey steps into the mystery of light in the heart of winter’s long night — the polar dark of the Arctic Circle, the aurora overhead, and the wisdom of those who have lived in rhythm with both for generations. Set among the snow‑held beauty of Tromsø, the journey weaves Scripture, guided reflection, and encounters with local guides who read the land and sky with reverence.
We begin around a warm, intentional table where story, expectation, and the theme of light take root. In the days that follow, you’ll venture into the Arctic landscape with those who know how to wait on the sky — learning how watchfulness, patience, and wonder become spiritual practices. Evenings spent chasing the Northern Lights become more than an excursion; they become a living metaphor of an illumination that cannot be manufactured, only received.
By the end, you won’t just understand the theme — you’ll have lived inside it. The darkness becomes a teacher, the aurora becomes a signpost, and the Spirit’s nearness is felt in the stillness, the sky, and the depth of the immersion.
