What Is Via Ruach?
Ruach (Roo-akh) is the Hebrew word for breath, wind, and spirit - the presence of God hovering over the waters, filling lungs, stirring life. Via Ruach is the way of that breath; immersive journeys into the living context of scripture - the landscapes, crafts and cultures that unlock what God’s word actually reveals - so faith becomes something you understand and encounter.
The Problem
We read the Bible — but we OFTEN LACK the DEEPER context to understand it & ultimately be transformed by it.
Most of us have read the verses and sensed there was more in them than we were getting. Not because the stories are dull, but because we’re missing the world the words were written in — the vineyards and hillsides, the customs and metaphors the first hearers already deeply understood. Without that context, Scripture can stay flat, confusing, or easy to misread.
So we outsource it. We let a pastor on Sunday or a voice on Christian TikTok tell us what the Bible means, and we inherit someone else’s understanding — sometimes incomplete, sometimes distorted. Real theology can feel reserved for people with a seminary degree, as if understanding God deeply weren’t meant for the rest of us.
But context is the key that unlocks the character and nature of God in His Word — and there is another way to find it. Through metaphor, landscape, and embodied practice, now you can encounter God in ways that are accessible, transformative, and deeply human. That’s where Via Ruach begins.
How A VIA RUACH JOURNEY WORKS

Each journey is anchored in a single biblical metaphor and a key passage — then we follow that thread across Scripture, exploring the theme from different angles through the journey’s narrative arc.

We travel to where that metaphor is still lived today — a working vineyard, a shepherd’s hillside, a Broadway stage, the Arctic night. Not the historical site, but the living context that makes the Scripture make sense.

2027 Journeys
This four‑day journey invites you to step inside Jesus’ words, “I am the true vine,” through the land, people, and practices that embody the metaphor. Set among the quiet beauty of Napa Valley at harvest, the experience weaves Scripture, guided reflection, and encounters with vineyard owners and winemakers who live the rhythms of vine and harvest every day.
We begin around a slow, intentional table where story and expectation take root. In the days that follow, you’ll walk the vineyards with those who tend them — learning how cultivation, abiding, pruning, and fruitfulness reveal the character and care of God. Curated tastings, hands‑on moments, and conversation at the communal table open up the role of the vine and the cup in the biblical story: celebration, covenant, remembrance.
Afternoons leave unhurried space for rest, journaling, or wandering the valley at your own pace. By the end, you won’t just understand the metaphor — you’ll have lived inside it. The vineyard becomes a teacher, the table becomes sacred ground, and the Spirit’s nearness is felt in the beauty of the land and the depth of the immersion.
Psalm 23 is the most beloved passage in Scripture and the most easily worn smooth by familiarity. This five‑day journey carries the psalm into a landscape that still lives it — the hills, lochs, and pastures of the Scottish Highlands, where shepherding remains a living craft and the metaphor recovers its weight.
You’ll learn from working shepherds, watch a sheepdog read its master’s voice across an open hillside, and sit in the quiet of a pasture as the words ‘He makes me lie down’ stop being poetry and become description. Guided teaching traces the psalm’s movement — provision, rest, guidance, the valley, the prepared table, the house of the Lord — against the landscape that first gave it language.
Between teaching and immersion there is room to walk, to be silent, and to be led. By the end, you won’t just know Psalm 23 by heart — you’ll know the heart of the Shepherd it describes, and what it means to be counted among those he calls by name.

Set among the snow‑held beauty of Tromsø, the journey weaves Scripture, guided reflection, and encounters with local guides who read the land and sky with reverence.
We begin around a warm, intentional table where story, expectation, and the theme of light take root. In the days that follow, you’ll venture into the Arctic landscape with those who know how to wait on the sky — learning how watchfulness, patience, and wonder become spiritual practices. Evenings spent chasing the Northern Lights become more than an excursion; they become a living metaphor of an illumination that cannot be manufactured, only received.

When Jesus warned against the “hypocrites” who perform their righteousness, he used the Greek word hypokrites — a stage actor, one who speaks behind a mask. There is no better place to sit with that image than Broadway, where masks are a craft and performance is the air everyone breathes.
This four‑day journey steps into the theater — onstage, backstage, and into the actor’s discipline — to ask a quietly searching question: where do we perform our faith, our worth, our very selves, for the approval of an audience that was never meant to judge us? Through a Broadway show, a set tour, time with working actors, and an improv class that strips away the script, we explore Jesus’ critique of the performed life and the freedom of living unmasked before an audience of One.
It is the most surprising journey in the Via Ruach canon, and the most disarming. You’ll laugh, you’ll be a little exposed, and you’ll leave lighter — having set down a mask you’d forgotten you were wearing.
